Our Story

It all begins with two crazy fifteen year old’s, freshman year of high school, who fell in love. After countless high school baseball games, a hand full of family vacations, and living apart for college, Katie & Zach got married on March 31st 2017.

Katie comes from a military family that was stationed in many places; among those Alaska! Katie’s family settled down in Tyler, TX where she met her life long best friend in third grade but soon moved to Mansfield, TX. After high school Katie went to Stephen F. Austin State University to study nursing but knew it wasn’t what she was meant to do. She came home and worked on a labor and delivery floor for five years and then an OB GYN’s office before starting the dream of Sweet Water Farm!

Zach was born and raised in Mansfield, TX. Zach grow up playing every sport he could which led him to high school football and baseball. After a football injury he decided to focus on baseball for the remainder of high school. After graduation Zach went to EMT school but, like Katie, figured out it wasn’t right for him. Zach worked as a correctional officer for three years then for his dad , co-owner Lance Murray, as a commercial plumber before starting the dream of Sweet Water Farm!

These owners of Sweet Water Farm Event Venue love spending time with their large extended family and also love a good vacation. Among their adventures are; trips to Disney world, Cruises to both the Western and Eastern Caribbean, and lots of trips to visit family that are scattered across the USA. Katie & Zach have two dogs, pit-lab Sadie and blue healer mix rescue Piper.

Katie & Zach purchased Sweet Water Farm’s 56 acers in Quitman, Texas in the summer of 2021 with plans of building a breathtaking indoor and outdoor event space for family, friends, and all guests to enjoy.
